"Oh The Places You'll Go"

I love that book by Dr. Suess! If you have stumbled across this blog check out post: 01 in the blog archive to get an idea of how Bert n Lou's Excellent Adventure came to be and then just follow along. Wine, food and fun are generally the prevailing themes throughout.

Cheers and welcome to Bert and Lou's Excellent Adventure!

And then the world stopped

Mere hours after publishing my first little trip posts on our time in Paris, the amazing city I described fell under a siege of terror.  I watched news coverage in horror and the magnitude of the coordinated terrorist actions unfolded.  I am sickened to know the little bar directly across from our hotel our last night in Paris was the scene of 19 killings.  Words can't express the heartache and shock I feel.  I can't even begin to imagine how those in France feel who now, are in the throes of dealing, coping and eventually recovering from this.  My thoughts, my prayers, are with them.  Parisians, you are not alone. Humanity is not lost  and I like the majority of people in this world, care deeply for your losses.  I deplore the actions of these few twisted misguided unhumans.  We are with you, mind, body and spirit.  There is an undeniable resolve to rid this world of terrorism and intimidation. It will be done. There is power in numbers, the worlds attitude has changed, my attitude has changed...I am no longer looking on and hoping for change...I am committed to it.

This series of 3 pictures (below)  I took at a little cafe where we sat and chatted with our server and patrons in Paris just weeks ago.

Our server was studying English and we had fun helping her.  We watched many locals stroll by enjoying their Sunday.  The maple leaf had fallen beside us and I picked it up and placed it on our table. It reminded me of home, Canada , and how no matter where you go in the world you can get that feeling...that sense of community. We were just there....part of the life...enjoying the sunshine and watching families and friends do just that in this Parisian neighbourhood

This cafe is right across the street where 19 people were gunned down.  I can not grasp how this can happen but I will not let it be in vain.

This song is one of my favourite on my ipad song list.  Doesn't matter it is about New York, the sentiment is universal, "just know that I am already home".
I have linked the youtube for it below.
It seems fitting for my post  today...
